GP1 Racing bounces back with win at IFO Bradenton 10-11-09

All Motor Shootout " lose in the semi's" 10-4-09
Coming into the event, we knew we were down on HP to most cars that entered the class. Still felt we could have a good showing and upset some people. With a first round win on a very close win and a 2nd round upset of the #2 quali. We had a very good shot of winning the event, but ended up losing in the semi's to eventual winner Tim Grey.
Wins NSCRA Battling it out" Round 2 7-5-09!!!!
In the Street Compact Naturally Aspirated class, all eyes were on Loan Nguyen in The Driveshaft Shop Honda Civic of Prayoonto Racing and Mark Podkowik, Round 1's winner. Podkowik had a $150.00 bounty placed on him after winning Round 1 and looked towards defending his win in the intense heat. Nguyen would qualify first with an 11.028 @ 127.28 mph setting up an inevitable meeting with Mark Podkowik in the finals. This heads-up battle lived up to the hype as both these K-series monsters battled it out. Nguyen would lose it at the light however, hitting a .297 reaction time to Podkowik's .084. Mark Podkowik defended his Round 1 win with a 11.207 @ 124.57 mph to Nguyen's faster 11.096 @ 125.85 mph.

Number 2 Qualifier: Mark Podkowik '94 Honda Civic - 11.049 @ 124.84 mph
Class Winner: Mark Podkowik '94 Honda Civic - RT .084 11.207 @ 124.57 mph
Runner-Up: Heriberto Marin '95 Honda Civic - RT .297 11.096 @ 125.85 mph
These two K-powered EGs lived up to the hype! In a straight bumper to bumper battle, Podkowik inches ahead at the end by cutting a .084 to Loan's .297 at the tree. Despite Loan's 11.096 effort, she is just shy of catching Podkowik at the end.
Wins NSCRA Season Opener 5-3-09!!!
In the Street Compact NA class, Mark Podkowik took his 1994 K-powered Honda Civic through the rounds running consistently in the mid-to-low 11s all day long. In the first round he ousted Nicole Barroso, had a single in the semi-finals and faced Heriberto Marin in the finals. Heriberto knew he had a lot on his hands racing Podkowik, who was the number one qualifier, despite having an 11-sceond car himself. Marin tried his best to catch a great light at the tree, but ended up fouling, handing Podkowik the win with a 11.516 @ 121 mph. Congratulations to Podkowik and his Hybrid Racing Civic EG.
